Benoit Assou-Ekotto feels the north London derby is becoming more and more important.
The left-back spoke exclusively to Spurs TV Online ahead of this season's first meeting against Arsenal in the Barclays Premier League at the Emirates on Saturday.
And he pinpoints our ambition of making it into the top four - and therefore qualifying again for the Champions League - as the reason why these derby encounters mean so much, on top of north London pride.
"The game becomes more important every year because we become a bigger team every year and if we want to continue playing in the Champions League, we have to try to beat the top four," said Benoit. "That's why it's so important."
Benoit, who has started 18 of our 20 matches this term, faces a potentially fascinating clash down our left-hand side as he and Gareth Bale come up against Bacary Sagna and Theo Walcott.
"Yes, it will be interesting, but I'm not scared," smiled Benoit. "It's not a problem. I know I have to be clever when I play against Walcott, because he's very quick.
"I just think we have to be ready for this game from the first minute. It's important we start well."
Look out for the full interview with Benoit on Spurs TV Online and our Official Spurs App this afternoon. We also have Heurelho Gomes' thoughts and highlights from Harry Redknapp's press conference held at Spurs Lodge this morning.
We'll also have a video montage of all three for our followers @SpursOnSide on Twitter.
