Trailing 1-0 going into the 88th minute, Dele was in the right place at the right time to turn home Christian Eriksen’s volley to level the scores at the Liberty Stadium.
That was never going to be enough for this team though. Dele barely celebrated and waved everyone back to the centre-circle to go in search of the winner. An additional seven minutes following Lucasz Fabianski’s injury provided an extra boost and two goals followed in injury time as Heung-Min Son grabbed the second and Christian completed the late, late show for the final 3-1 scoreline.
“We knew we could get the win, that’s the belief we’ve got in this team,” said Dele, who felt that the way we kept going and never let the situation get to us was further proof of a maturing team.
“We’re learning and building because that could have gone differently last season but there was a lot of fight in the boys, we were hungry and we believed if we stuck to the game plan that the goals would come.
“The fans were brilliant again as well, they kept us going and once we equalised they kept us driving on.”
Dele’s 15th goal in the Premier League helped secure a fifth win on the trot and 12th in our last 15 as we strengthened our place in second and in the top four with Manchester City, United and Liverpool all dropping points this midweek.
“We just have to keep going, not get carried away, keep focusing on what we’re doing and try to win every game,” added Dele.
We face Watford at home in the Premier League on Saturday (12.30pm) before another early kick-off at the Lane against Bournemouth on Saturday week.
