The striker is expected to line up against Arsenal on Sunday in his first north London derby and, to say he is excited by the encounter, would be something of an understatement.
"I have never played in one of these games but I know it is massive and like a cup final. It is massive for the players, the fans and the whole club - everybody who is involved.
"All the players are looking forward to it and I know on Sunday that all the players will give their all. It is such a big game for us."
The 21-year-old is well used to all-London tussles from his days at West Ham, but agrees that this contest is up a good few notches from what he has experienced before.
"Definitely, it is on a totally different level. I just can't wait, it has been a long week looking forward to it and, if we can win, it would just be unbelieveable."
Jermain Defoe is relishing the prospect of featuring in a game he suspects will be like a 'cup final'.
