Jermain Defoe could miss our Christmas and New Year programme after picking up an injury at Middlesbrough.

The striker came on for Andy Reid early in the second half with us trailing 2-1 and determined to push forward in search of an equaliser.

We just did that on two occasions with Jermaine Jenas curling home a superb free-kick for 2-2 and then Mido heading home for 3-3 with seven minutes left.

Jermain might have won it but was denied one-on-one by Mark Schwarzer in added time but he then had to limp off after taking a tumble trying to latch onto a pass from Edgar Davids.

“Jermain twisted his ankle and could be out for a couple of weeks,†said Head Coach Martin Jol afterwards.
