The Christmas issue of Hotspur magazine is on sale now.
Sandro is the main feature this month and one lucky reader has the chance to win his signed match boots in our free-to-enter competition.
Our Brazilian international midfielder tells us that he has been instantly impressed by Spurs supporters who were emailing him before he even joined us and taught him his first words of English: 'Come on you Spurs…'
“The fans here are warm and very passionate about their team,” he tells us in another exclusive interview. “They made me feel part of the club before I even got here. I appreciate that because I felt loved from the onset.
“You can see how much they are devoted to our club; you can almost touch that sense of loyalty. In England, the fans clearly feel that they have a part to play and that is true.”
Sandro also talks about his first Christmas in this country when he played Santa to the young family of his fellow Brazilian Gomes. And we also ask a group of our players – including Scott Parker and Brad Friedel – what they want from the festive season this year.
Both Michael Dawson and Tom Carroll remembered their excitement when they received bicycles at Christmas as youngsters while the present Jake Livermore cherished was…a pair of socks!
Jermain Defoe takes a full page to tell us why he loves Christmas so much. Both Parker and Luka Modric talk of their respect for each other’s game that makes them such a top midfield partnership. And coach Joe Jordan returns to answer your questions and tells of his admiration for fellow Scots Dave Mackay and Alan Gilzean.
He’ll certainly find a few people who share that respect for the two tartan internationals at White Hart Lane!
Our celebrity fan this week is super chef Antony Worrall Thompson who was one of the legion of supporters first attracted to the club by our great Double side.
Ossie Ardiles pays tribute to Kyle Walker’s emergence as a high quality right-back and recalls a night at Swansea when legendary hard man Tommy Smith gave him a special welcome to Wales!
We look back on six occasions when we played the same opposition on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day, starting in 1911 when we hammered Woolwich Arsenal 5-0!
Young striker Harry Kane answers the questions in our popular ‘Box2Box’ feature where he admits that Westlife play a part in his musical life. “I hear they are disbanding so maybe they should give me a go,” he says!
And Benoit Assou-Ekotto does the same in our ‘High Fives’ session and insists that he has never seen a better goal than the one he scored against Liverpool at White Hart Lane! He also admits that he loves the Simpsons!
We catch up with Ian Walker, the current manager at Bishop’s Stortford; with Tony Galvin as he prepares to take to the field with our Legends team; and look back on the Spurs career of Mike England.
It’s all in the December issue of Hotspur, our official monthly magazine.
And don't forget that a subscription of Hotspur makes the ideal Christmas present for any Spurs supporter!
