Tim Sherwood described the performances of Yago Falque and Cristian Ceballos as a 'massive positive' after our Spurs XI's 5-4 win at Kettering Town on Wednesday night.
The Spanish newcomers scored two goals each in an entertaining encounter to mark Kettering striker Jean-Paul Marna's Testimonial.
Yago got us back into the match at Nene Park after the Poppies took an early 2-0 lead and Cristian's two goals, both clever one-on-one finishes, particularly caught the eye as we came from 2-0 and 4-2 down to win 5-4.
John Bostock rifled home a free-kick to make it 4-4 before Yago had the final word, his angled drive from 16 yards completing the victory.
"Yago and Cristian are not just 'nice' footballers, they affect football matches and that's what it's all about," said Tim, our Technical Co-Ordinator.
"They showed real quality and that’s what we’ve seen from them in training.
"They are technically excellent players and scoring two goals each in their first match in England, we can’t ask for more than that."
Tim was pleased with the whole team's performance.
"Will Ekong did well, he hasn’t played a lot of football but will now continue to play and the two younger lads who came on in the second half, Kevin Stewart and Jack Barthram, they are great learners, they absorb information," he added.
"The likes of Tom Carroll and Harry Kane, they have to keep ticking over and doing things correctly and it was about fitness for John Bostock, Dean Parrett and Cameron Lancaster, all just back from injury.
"I say it time and time again, even though we don’t lose too many, it’s not about results. We weren't fazed when we went 2-0 down. It's about trying to do the right things."
