Vratislav Gresko's late, deflected goal was enough for Rovers to grab all three points at Ewood Park in a game that looked destined for a goalless draw.
It was the second time in succession we'd lost an away match via a deflected shot after the same misfortune at Highbury.
Defender Dean was outstanding alongside Anthony Gardner in another solid defensive display.
So it was no surprise that he cut a disappointed figure afterwards. "It wasn't a great game and in the end the deflected goal came at a time where I didn't feel we were under any great deal of pressure," he said.
"I felt we defended well and it's sickening how we lost. Steve Carr has gone to block the ball and eight times out of 10 it would hit him and just bounce back into play. It spun in as well.
"It's disappointing but we'll pick ourselves up again. We want to get on a run, we had a good result last week and even a point at Blackburn would have been a good result and a fair reflection on the game."
A downcast Dean Richards reflected the mood of the lads after the disappointment at Blackburn - but remained adamant that we'll pick ourselves up against Manchester City on Wednesday.
