Deano's target

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Dean Richards hopes victory against Derby County on Monday night will help erase the memories of that Manchester United defeat for good.

‘Deano’ could barely have believed what had unfolded as he trotted in for half-time against United a fortnight ago — there he was, on his debut for his new club and he’d scored the opening goal as we went in 3-0 up against the best team in the land.

Of course, we all know what happened after that.

Defender Dean is now hoping for a similar start in what will only be his second game for us when we take on the Rams live on television at the Lane — this time with the right outcome.

“It’s an important game,” he said. “When you look at the way we played in the first half against United, you go in 3-0 up against the majority of teams in the Premier League then you can’t see them coming back, but United is a different story.

“I’m sure if we play as well as that against Derby we shouldn’t have too many problems.

“I don’t take anything for granted though. I learned that at Tranmere last season against, no disrespect, a worst team than United.

“But it’s a game we’re looking to put behind us and a win against Derby will go a long way to doing that.”

Dean expects Derby to have ‘an extra edge’ against us following the departure of Jim Smith and Colin Todd stepping into the manager’s hotseat at Pride Park.

He explained: “It’s usually the case that players are all out to impress the new boss and everyone is playing for their place. It gives them an extra edge.

“It will be a test but every game is a test at this level. For defenders, every team you play against the strikers are always high quality and Monday will be no exception.”

We are 9/1 to win 3-0 with 22/1 on a 4-0 triumph and Richards is 25/1 to open the scoring - click for details.
