We were handed a trip to St Andrews on August 16 followed by Leeds United at home and Liverpool away when the Premiership fixtures were announced yesterday.
Defender Dean said: "Going to St Andrews is a tough proposition at any stage of the season but on the first day of the season I can imagine it will be a great atmosphere.
"They've made one or two signings in the summer and looking to bring one or two more in so with the way they finished last season I'm sure they'll be full of confidence and relishing this season even more.
"When they came up people thought, perhaps rightly so, that they would struggle but Steve Bruce has bought well, the likes of Upson, Dugarry, obviously Steve Clemence has gone there. They were struggling until the transfer window but they took off from there.
"It will be tough, no doubt about it, but that would be the story wherever we went on the first day of the season."
Dean Richards expects a tough test in a lively atmosphere when we travel to Birmingham City on the opening day of next season.
