The team secured their first points since last playing at the Lane against Chelsea at the beginning of this month and Dean was in no doubt as to the importance of gathering full reward from Sunday's game.
"Yes, we needed to bounce back as we've been on a bit of a downward slide," said Dean. "Especially after last week, it's nice to put on a good performance and, more importantly, get the three points."
The boys are now seeking to build on such a positive result and get a run going, starting at Birmingham next week followed by West Brom at the Lane. However, Dean does not take the challenge presented by the promoted teams lightly.
"That's right. You look at the fixtures we've got and you can't under-estimate the teams that have come up, they will fight for their lives and they will both be tough games.
"They are games that are winnable though - and they are games that we will be looking to win."
So was it especially satisfying for a Bradford boy to put one over on Leeds?
"Definitely yes - love it!"
Dean Richards said it was vital to bounce back against Leeds after a disappointing recent sequence of results.
