The big defender has been out for a month with a back problem but returned to light training on Monday.
He explained at Spurs Lodge: "I saw the specialist last week and he told me to start doing some gym work.
"So I did that, just back stretches and things like that and this is the first time I've been back out training.
"I'm happy with it, it's a lot better than it was, so I'm back off to the specialist on Wednesday and hopefully I'll get the all-clear."
Deano stressed he was desperate to return for the crunch period of the season.
"I want to see the season out," he insisted. "Hopefully we can push on, get a few more results and you never know.
"I looked at the table after Saturday and we're only six points off sixth place. Teams have got to play each other and take points off each other so you never know."
Dean Richards is hoping for the all-clear to resume full training when he sees a specialist tomorrow.
