Boss Glenn Hoddle has revealed it's 'touch and go' whether or not the big defender will be fit before the end of the season after picking up a knee injury at Arsenal last weekend.
To add insult to injury, 'Deano' suffered the damage in the challenge with Thierry Henry that led to Arsenal's late winner from the penalty spot.
Glenn revealed: "Deano's definitely out of the West Ham game and his knee will take two to three weeks.
"It's not a cartilage and not a cruciate ligament, it's a slight strain of the medial ligament which, if you like, is the little brother, not the big brother.
"So it's not as bad as we first feared but it will be touch and go whether or not he'll be fit before the end of the season.
"It was very painful for him earlier in the week, very sore. He hurt his ankle as well, so that was giving him lot of discomfort as well.
"It's another injury and that has certainly been the frustrating side of the whole season."
Dean Richards' season could be over.
