Dean Richards is anticipating a tough afternoon's work against West Ham dealing with the threat posed by a former team-mate.
Les Ferdinand is expected to line-up in attack for the Hammers - playing against Spurs for the first time since his Newcastle days.
Dean is not unfamiliar with playing against the powerful centre forward, having encountered him during his time at Southampton.
"Yup, I've played against Les before when I was at Southampton and I know what to expect," said the inspirational central defender. "He always gives everything and is obviously great in the air.
"It will be a good battle for me. In his day he was frightening with pace and power. He is maybe not as quick as he used to be, but he has good strength and is awesome in the air.
"It will be an interesting one."
Dean does not read too much into the fact that West Ham enjoyed a morale-boosting win over fellow strugglers West Brom on Sunday - pointing out that derby matches are always fiercely contested.
"I don't suppose there is ever a good time to play them - it is another London derby. They are always hard games no matter what the positions in the league are.
"On the day it goes out of the window, it is a derby game and they are always tough.
"They got off to a bad start and haven't really recovered. It's an old cliche saying teams are too good to go down, but good teams and squads have gone down before.
"They are in a situation they've got to get themselves out of and will be desperate for the three points on Saturday. That is what would really lift them, back to back wins. We've got to make sure it doesn't happen."
