Glenn Hoddle confirmed there was 'every likelihood' that the big defender would pull on a Spurs shirt for the first time against the Premiership champions at the Lane on Saturday.
He also suggested 'Deano' was an international star of the future - but our £8.1million capture insists all he's interested in at the moment is playing well for his new club.
"Being here can only help as far as England is concerned," said Dean. "It's a bigger club, a higher-profile club but at the same time I have to play well here.
"That is what I'm concentrating on at the moment, getting my mind right, getting used to the team and playing well for Spurs. Hopefully if I do that England might come along later."
'Deano' has had a week to familiarise himself with his new team-mates and new surroundings.
Now he will have to familiarise himself with United's attacking options of Van Nistelrooy, Cole, Solskjaer, Scholes, Giggs, Beckham and Veron.
He commented: "They don't come much harder than this but being thrown in at the deep end sometimes are the games you look forward to most.
"I've been here for a week now and it's helped. I've go to to know the lads and it's been helpful being in the changing room."
And the 27-year-old shares the lofty ambitions of the club.
"It would be nice to win a couple of trophies and qualify for Europe," he added. "I've come here because I know it's a club going places, great potential and can win things. That's why I'm here."
