A disappointed Darren was back at Spurs Lodge for treatment this morning on the slight hamstring problem that forced him out of England's friendly against Holland on Wednesday.
"The hamstring has been bothering me for two or three weeks and it was just a precaution really," he revealed. "I've now got a few days to get it right.
"Hopefully it won't keep me out for Sunday, we'll see. I'll have to have a lot of treatment this week but I haven't ruled Sunday out yet.
"There are some very big games coming up and I want to be part of them all. I would have loved to have been part of England's game on Wednesday as well but when I got there they felt there was no point taking any risks.
"It's disappointing to miss out but I'll try not to dwell on that for too long and get on with how things have been going this season.
"I'm not trying to think about anything else now apart from trying to get fit in time for Sunday."
Darren Anderton hasn't ruled out lining-up against Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup on Sunday after withdrawing from international duty on Monday.
