Darren has been witness to a few changes during his ten years at the club and says he has not considered ever leaving himself during that time. He says the current mood in the camp is good and is encouraged by the new additions to the squad.
"I think everyone is optimistic," said Darren, who netted two first-half goals against Stevenage on Sunday. "I've been here ten years now, which is a long time, and I've never seen a reason to leave and have always been happy here.
"I am looking forward to this season, very much so. I thought we did well up until a point last year and this season we are looking to go that step further.
"The mood is very good. I think this is probably the strongest squad since I've been here. Hopefully we'll steer clear of major injuries and you need a little bit of luck and hopefully things will go our way.
"Like I say, looking at it, it is probably the strongest squad we've had in my time."
Darren Anderton says there is a mood of optimism around the club - and adds that the squad is probably the strongest in his time at the Lane.
