Darren Anderton admires the way Johnnie Jackson seized his opportunity to shine in the first team and suspects there is more to come off the Spurs production line.
Johnnie, 21, was recalled from a loan spell at Coventry ahead of the Boxing Day trip to Portsmouth and made his senior debut in that game. He then started against Charlton, Crystal Palace and Birmingham - winning rave reviews for his performances down the left flank.
"He is a good player and we have always known that," said Darren. "Sometimes young players just need a chance to go out and play, we had a few injuries over Christmas and he has had that chance and taken it very well."
Johnnie is one of nine home produced players numbered in the first team squad - the others, in numerical order, being Stephen Carr, Lee Barnard, Robert Burch, Ledley King, Mark Yeates, Dean Marney, Stephen Kelly and Jamie Slabber.
"There are a lot of good young players here, you've got to get the right balance and hopefully we are doing that now," added Darren. "There are also plenty more good players coming through, I'm sure."
