Daz back in England squad

Darren Anderton has been recalled to the England squad after a year's absence for Saturday's friendly against Sweden at Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old midfielder joins striker Teddy Sheringham in the 26-man squad selected by Sven Goran Eriksson.

Outstanding so far this season after recovering from Achilles surgery in the summer, Darren won the last of his 29 England caps as a substitute in a friendly against Italy on November 15 last year.

Kevin Phillips, Frank Lampard, Chris Powell and Michael Owen also return but injuries rule out Andy Cole, Sol Campbell, David Seaman, Nick Barmby and Ashley Cole.

Steve McManaman will remain in Spain to play for Real Madrid.
