THURSDAY, AUGUST 18
Tynecastle, Edinburgh, 10.30pm
We've not long finished what was a perfect start to the season in the Europa League play-off against Hearts.
We went to Young Boys in the Champions League play-off a year ago and went 3-0 down in half-hour.
We knew what it would be like coming to Hearts and as I said to the press beforehand, we were ready for it. It was a tremendous atmosphere in the stadium and the lads responded magnificently.
To be honest, it was lovely to play at the back and watch the way the lads performed. It was top-drawer stuff and credit to them.
I thought Jake Livermore was fantastic, Jake and Niko Kranjcar were excellent in the middle of the park. We got on the ball and played around the corners. All the lads were great. We were top-class.
Goals change games, simple as that and we got off to such a good start. That put Hearts on the back foot and we were full of confidence.
To be fair, we had 10 minutes at the start of the second half where they came back into it and it was backs against the wall. They had a couple of corners, a couple of scrambles and I said 'I told you this was going to come lads' and we had to be ready for it.
We were ready, we stood strong and we went on to get the fourth and fifth goals and it ended up a fantastic night for us.
Now we have to complete the job at White Hart Lane, start the second leg well again and make sure we don't give them any lift on the night.
So the first game is over, it's been a great game for us, our first competitive match of the season and we've a good win under our belt. Everyone is full of confidence and now we go to United on Monday. We look forward to it.
We've played well there in recent seasons and not got any reward for those performances. That's been frustrating.
United have started well. They are the champions and they will want to win the title again, but we'll look to go there, put on a good performance and bring something back with us.
All the best!
