THURSDAY, DECEMBER 29
Spurs Lodge, 3pm
Today was a great day for me as I returned to full training.
It felt great to be out there again. It's been a difficult few months, firstly getting to the bottom of the Achilles injury and eventually going for the operation (in November). It's been great since then.
I've been back outside for the last couple of weeks doing my fitness work and it's fantastic to train with the lads again.
It's been a tough time. I'm a footballer and I want to be out there training, not stuck in the gym recovering from injury. As I've said all along, you tend to take it all for granted when you are fit.
I came through the session okay, everything's fine and I can't wait for the next step, being back out there playing again.
Just a quick word on Tuesday's win at Norwich.
I thought we were superb on the night, our passing was fantastic and we eventually broke them down. Gareth’s second goal showed what he’s all about. I’ve described him as unstoppable before and that was him at his best.
We’re third in the Premier League and I think we deserve to be there, but no-one’s getting carried away.
As I’ve said all along, there are no easy games. You can get tripped up around the next corner. Just look at the matches this week when Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool all dropped points. That’s what can happen.
Thankfully, we took advantage of those results at Norwich and we'll now look to finish off what has been a great 2011 at Swansea on New Year's Eve.
