The central defender has been out since tweaking his hamstring in training during the week after the goalless draw against Liverpool.
He's missed the games at Villa, Grimsby and the 1-0 win against Fulham on Monday and although he's now running in training, Saturday might arrive too early for him.
That also looks the case with midfielder Michael Carrick although he's also making progress after damaging his ankle at Grimsby.
Dawson is quite close but at this particular moment, it doesn't look like they'll be in contention.
"That's certainly the situation with Carrick, but we're always optimistic." reported coach Chris Hughton this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Chris has moved quickly to correct press reports about Jermaine Jenas' attandance at a social event on Tuesday evening.
Chris said: "This is a complete non-issue. It has nothing to do with Jermaine. He left early and it's just a shame the press have chosen to link his name with it."
Michael Dawson remains a doubt for the big Premiership clash at Charlton on Saturday.
