The skipper is determined to go one better after our Boxing Day draw against West Brom.
We return to the Lane for a 4pm kick-off against a Stoke team that took the lead but then had two men dismissed in the first half at St James’ Park and ended up losing 5-1.
“It’s a big defeat for them, we’ve been on the end of a couple ourselves and we know how they’ll feel as players and as a club, and they will want to bounce back,” said Michael.
“But it’s about us and if we can attack how we did against West Brom, then hopefully we’ll also get the goals to show for it.”
We also took the lead against the Baggies but conceded the equaliser straight away and despite piling on the pressure in the second half, it remained 1-1.
“It wasn’t for the lack of trying,” said Michael. “We threw everything at them, we were on the front foot and after going ahead in the first half, it was disappointing to concede in the way we did.
“We just couldn’t get over the finishing line but it’s a quick turn around and we’ll be ready for Stoke.”
