It was our third draw in a row and the seventh time we’d taken the lead in our last eight Barclays Premier League matches.
“Whenever you cross the white line you are fighting for the shirt and this was no different,” declared defender ‘Daws’ afterwards.
“Wigan is a difficult place to play, we had to deal with the pitch and we did that, got off to a good start and it’s just a shame we couldn’t build on it.
“With the quality we’ve got, we’ll always score goals. Our aim is to win games and unfortunately we couldn’t do that at Wigan. It was a tough game, we gave it our all and we were disappointed not to win."
Daws stressed that the target was now to win our last three games of the season against Bolton, Reading and Liverpool.
“Football is all about winning games, that’s what we all want to do,” he insisted. “Every player’s aim is to play well and go home with three points - then we’re all happy.”
Michael Dawson was disappointed not to bring home maximum points from Wigan.Another impressive start saw us take the lead via Dimitar Berbatov but, like Blackburn and Middlesbrough before them, the Latics fought back for a 1-1 draw.
