Our 2-0 victory at White Hart Lane against the Seasiders sent us through to the quarter-final stage of the cup, but our defender knows we need to take this form into the game at the Riverside.
With only one win in the league so far this season, ‘Daws’ reckons its about time we start to make a climb up the table – although he couldn’t hide his delight at a much-needed win in Juande Ramos' first game as new Head Coach.
The 23-year-old said: “When you win any football match it’s great, so we’re over the moon because it’s what we badly needed.
“We’ve got a new manager in charge with points to prove, and winning football matches is the bottom line.
“Getting through to the next round of the cup is great and we kept a clean sheet as well, which we haven’t had too many of.
“We’ve had a disappointing start to the season but hopefully we can build on this on Saturday and climb up the league table, although it would also be great to win a trophy this season.”
Michael has also been impressed with the way the Juande Ramos has applied himself on the training ground since taking over.
He added: “It’s been different and he’s only been in charge for a few days. We’re doing a lot of work on what he wants, so there’s lots of work to do on the training ground which is good.”
Michael Dawson aims to build on our Carling Cup success against Blackpool when we face Middlesbrough in the league on Saturday.
