We travel to Manchester City on Sunday, looking for a return to winning ways after a narrow defeat to Newcastle United last time out.
That game against the Magpies was Daws’ 299th appearance in our colours – and with just one more run-out needed to reach the big 300, Daws has been looking back on some of his favourite moments in a Lilywhite shirt.
One of his personal highlights came at the stadium we’re heading to this weekend back in May, 2010 – Peter Crouch’s late header at the Etihad gave us a 1-0 victory over City and secured our placed in the Champions League for the first time ever.
Daws played all 90 minutes of that famous victory and he says it ranks among his top Tottenham moments.
“We played City to finish fourth – that was huge,” recalled the 30-year-old. “The celebrations said it all that night and what it meant.”
Michael also reeled off a few more favourites as he anticipates a 300th appearance for us.
“The AC Milan games – captaining the team for those matches in the Champions League at home and away, I’ll count those among my favourites,” he continued.
“Also my first goal in the win against Chelsea in 2006 when myself and Azza scored, and the League Cup finals for different reasons – they’re all top moments for me.
“It’s a great honour to pull the shirt on 300 times – well, 299.
“I’ve loved my time here ever since my first day almost nine years ago. I’ve had a fantastic time and I hope there are many more games to come.”
