The midfielder went under the knife in at the start of November having damaged his knee against Fulham on October 30.
The news is similar on Sean's fellow midfielder Simon Davies, who is recovering from a virus.
Head Coach Martin explained: "I think Sean Davis will be in full training at the end of the month, so we're looking at another four weeks.
"Simon Davies is recovering and that will be another three to four weeks. Mid-January is too early for them, it's more like the end of the month.
"Sean starts running tomorrow and after a couple of weeks we'll make a decision but I don't think he'll be ready to come back into the squad until the end of the month."
