Mido suspects the presence of Edgar Davids on the pitch has a positive effect on the players around him.
The experienced Dutch midfielder has started the games against Middlesbrough and Chelsea and shown his own qualities in both those games but Mido - facing a suspension for his red card against Chelsea - believes Davids raises the bar for the other players.
"Edgar is a great lad, a great player and I think we are very lucky to have him here," said Mido. "If you look at the last games you can see he made a big difference in the midfield. I think Michael Carrick was more aggressive because of him.
"It is a mental thing, when you see an older guy fighting for every ball you know you have to all fight with him. I think he lifted the team up and we needed a guy like him - I think he is a great signing."
