Josh Onomah was latest to make his full debut and David described it as 'sensational' that Mauricio Pochettino took nine Academy graduates in a squad of 21 to Azerbaijan for our Europa League clash against Qarabag last month.
David joined us in 1980, made his debut aged 19 in 1986 and went on to make 335 appearances for us over the next 12 years, memorably helping is lift the FA Cup in 1981.
"I love to see the Academy players coming through and I think a lot of clubs and managers miss a trick by not bringing players through when they are ready," he said.
"Players like Harry Kane and Ryan Mason coming through and the passion they show for the club, you can tell it means so much to them. That’s the way I felt when I started playing.
"Mauricio Pochettino has done well to integrate so many young players into the squad and credit to everyone at the club, top to bottom. We’re leading the way on that front."
