We are obviously disappointed with the outcome against Southampton because we dominated the second period and had a lot of efforts on goal.
Niemi was exceptional at times but, for all our efforts on goal, we should have shown more quality with our final pass or shot.
We started with Keane, Kanoute and Defoe and often balance is more important than the personnel. That is what we are seeking desperately at the moment - to get a balanced team. We've lost a little bit of shape recently and this was a close game and it was always going to be.
If we could have scored we could have gone on and done well, but we didn't and it was a special overhead kick from Delap to win the game.
We lacked that final ball and a couple of times we were very wasteful. All in all, our lads must look back and reflect that we had the possession but that final thrust wasn't there.
