The first period of the game against Manchester City was excellent. We were very determined, had a lot of possession and we passed it simply and early.
We got crosses in the box and shots on goal. We got shots in front of defenders where, at times, we looked to get past the last defender - that was a pleasure for me. In the first 25 minutes I wrote my little notes down and I was going to compliment them on the fact that we got more crosses and shots in than we have for some time.
That gave us a tempo.
The second goal appeared to be quite crucial and, while I am delighted for Helder, I am delighted for them all.
I think Keller kept a very good goal, Doherty and Gardner were a splendid duo at centre back against difficult opponents. In front of them Ledley King did very well and Darren Anderton pulled a lot of strings - everyone played their part and it was a very good team effort. I am pleased for the boys.
City got their goal and the last 15 minutes is generally more difficult to watch than the first. It is normally more stressful and, if you are leading by one goal, you are tempted to just hang on unless you are a very, very good team. We are getting better.
