Some of our attacking play was good on Wednesday but, in saying that, I feel that Birmingam are a well coached team and the delivery of pass behind our lines at times gave us problems. The fact they didn't score from open play was down to the excellent form of our centre backs and the team in general.
From a forward point of view, it was nice to see some exciting wing play, Robbie Keane coming back to a better touch and Fredi Kanoute gave them problems. Once we were one and two up, the more they had to push forward and the more dangerous we began to look on the counter attack.
Robbie scored a goal, which was ruled offside, before we opened the official account and, overall going forward, we were okay. Once again, well done to Anderton and Poyet, the engine room has to work. Simon Davies came back and did well before tiring in the second half and Johnnie Jackson did a splendid emergency job at left back.
Our midfield worked and the football was good. Anderton and Poyet passed the ball simply and econonomically, we got a good supply to the forward players. We got to Dalmat quickly and early and it paid off for us.
