We are shellshocked following the FA Cup replay defeat to Manchester City and deserve to be.
We took a three-goal lead without playing particularly well, but they were excellent goals. I just feel that in the second half we didn't keep our shape or spread our play and didn't make it hard for them to get back into the game.
City showed spirit, got the breaks at the right times and their goalkeeper was exceptional. Our defending was sloppy and they got lifted on a couple of occasions - particularly the second goal where they must of thought they had a chance.
The late goal sealed what was one of the most unfortunate and bad nights that we've had for some time.
The most important thing for the players is to be self-critical and go on and give a reaction, because we need one.
One or two might come back into the team for the Portsmouth game as we had a few out - key players like Anderton who will be back on Saturday. Defoe is able to play as Postiga is now injured.
All in all, we mustn't make excuses because we lost badly and let ourselves down.
