I THOUGHT the lads showed tremendous spirit against Aston Villa.
It wasn't an easy game to control and pass and play with ryhthm in those conditions. There was a swirling wind and it was certainly the fastest pitch we've played on this season and that caught a number of the players out - the accuracy of the passing as a result was mediocre to say the least.
We worked hard, kept playing and we coped because we have this strange word, 'stickability'. We have a lot of spirit and that has seen us through this time.
I would like to say a word about Darren Anderton. He was out on the right-hand side, we didn't get any pattern and switched him in the second half and I think he aided Ledley King to get tighter and win more ball than we had when Stephane Dalmat was in there.
In saying that, Dalmat gives us something different, pace and drive and when he went out wide he was a threat to them. We have to utilise him to the best of our ability.
I was delighted for Rohan Ricketts and Bobby Zamora. The substitutions paid off - sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Arsenal's paid off against us and ours paid off this time, changed the game a little, gave us a little more imputus, more creativity. Rohan has some jiggery-pokery. He has down sides to his game but we'll live with the down sides if he produces the up sides.
