The former United, Real Madrid, LA, AC Milan and PSG star and England’s third most-capped player (115 caps, 1996-2009) was presented with the PFA Merit award for his contribution to the game.
Speaking on stage after receiving the his award, Beckham, who trained with Spurs for a spell in January, 2011, was quick to praise Dele, who had just received the PFA Young Player award, Harry, who was nominated for both Players’ Player and Young Player awards and Danny Rose and Kyle Walker, named with Dele and Harry in the PFA’s Premier League Team of the Season.

He said: “I specifically look at the young players coming through with England and you look at these players and Harry Kane, an exceptional young player, Dele Alli, an exceptional young player, when you see these players and I’m going to speak about Dele because you see him as a player and you see a certain arrogance he plays with, and that’s a positive thing because he’s not an arrogant person, he’s a great guy and to see the way he plays on the field, you have to have that arrogance, big players have that.
“When you have someone like that playing for England, when you’ve got Harry playing for England, when you’ve got Danny Rose, Kyle Walker and you see these guys coming through, that’s exciting.”
