Davenport’s transfer from Coventry City was confirmed tonight bringing a highly-sought player of immense potential to White Hart Lane and he becomes the 11th summer signing of Frank Arnesen and Jacques Santini and our 13th new arrival since May.
The 21-year-old joins Paul Robinson, Marton Fulop - the two goalkeeper signed in May - Noureddine Naybet, Sean Davis, Pedro Mendes, Leigh Mills, Erik Edman, Rodrigo Defendi, Eddie Silva Sousa, Thimothee Atouba, Noe Pamarot and Michael Carrick in our new-look squad.
Davenport made 84 appearances for City and won the Sky Blues' Player of the Year Award in 2003-04.
He played for Coventry against West Ham United earlier this evening and left immediately afterwards to link up with the England Under-21 squad.
Said Sporting Director Frank Arnesen: “He’s a great talent with special qualities, a very promising central defender who possesses a good mentality and who will further enhance our growing squad.
“He illustrates our current attitude at Tottenham, seeking out players for now and players for the future.”
Calum Davenport has joined the club as we continue to snap up some of the best young available talent in the English game.
