Stephane Dalmat explained that he has been hankering after a taste of Premiership football for some time.
The 24-year-old Frenchman trained with his new teammates for the first time on Monday following his season-long loan move from Inter Milan and, with the help of his fellow countryman Fredi Kanoute, we were able to get his thoughts on why he chose Spurs as his port of destination.
"I am happy to be here because, for a long time, I have wanted to play in England and I am looking forward to playing now," he revealed, adding that he feels his two-year stint in Serie A has made him a better player.
"I have improved in Italy for two years now and I wanted to see and try something else. For a long time I have wanted to test myself in the English league so I am happy now."
Glenn joked on Saturday that his rusty linguistic skills might have played some part in convincing Stephane that Spurs were the best option for him and it seems that his 'pidgin-French' must have done the trick.
"At first I spoke to the manager and had a good conversation. After that I knew a little bit about the team and knew that it is a team that wants to achieve something - so I felt it was a good move for me."
