Curbs praise for 'heroes'

Posted on 9 December 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Alan Curbishley praised his 'heroes' after Charlton ended our hopes of going second in the Premiership on Saturday.

A double from Kevin Lisbie and Graham Stuart's early goal were enough for a 3-1 win as the Addicks stormed into a 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes.

We hit back after the break but goalkeeper Dean Kiely was in fine form and it was 3-0 by the time Gus Poyet pulled a goal back.

Curbishley beamed: "We came out of the blocks lively, got our noses in front and to do that against a very good side was great for us.

"I said in the week that Glenn had bought very well, players that are very instant, experienced and they play a certain way that has caused a lot of teams problems.

"We were 2-0 up at half-time and we've been there before against Spurs (FA Cup last season). We were determined not to let it go this time.

"Dean Kiely pulled off some great saves in the second half and we had some heroes out there. It was a great win for us and it's been a long time coming."
