Bolton took the Premiership honours on a sad day at the Lane following the news of the loss of Bill Nicholson.
But we bounced back in style in the Carling Cup third round tie at the Reebok.
It didn't look like it was going to be our night as we trailed 2-1 again with time running out but Goran Bunjevcevic popped up with the equaliser and we took a grip of procedings in extra time with goals from Michael Brown and Jermain Defoe's second of the night to go 4-2 up.
Bolton hit back through Les Ferdinand but we held on for 4-3 in an enthralling second period of extra time.
"After a two defeats it was a good reaction from the team," reflected Jacques back at Spurs Lodge today. "I hope my players and our fans are very happy about the win.
"We had four players out and Paul Robinson ill so it was a good result."
Jermain's double ended a mini-drought of four games. ""It's important for him and the team that he scored but I'm just as happy for Goran Bunjevcevic and Michael Brown because it's good for the team to have players who are able to score."
Jacques Santini was pleased to see such a positive response from the team at Bolton in the Carling Cup last night having lost against Sam Allardyce's men on Saturday.
