Crunch game

Aaron Lennon says it's vital to close the gap on Everton by taking maximum points against the Toffees at the Lane on Sunday.

We can close to within a point of the Goodison side - currently sitting seventh in the Premier League - by stretching our fantastic home record under Harry Redknapp on Sunday.

Since Harry's arrival we've won five out of five games at the Lane including league wins over Bolton, Liverpool and Blackburn. We've also beaten Liverpool in the Carling Cup and crushed Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Cup.

"We've got to be looking to win all our home games," declared the winger who turned in a man of the match display against Blackburn. "It's always a lift when the fans are right behind you, singing your name, that's brilliant.

"Everton are one of those teams that will be in and around us and you need to win matches against those teams.

"It's never an easy game against Everton. They are a hard-working side with a great manager who gets them working really hard. They play to their strengths and they've got dangerous strikers who they get the ball to quickly.

"If we play the way we know we can we know we'll be okay - we'll be looking for the three points."
