Peter Crouch will take inspiration from 'one of the best feelings in the world' when we return to Eastlands tonight.
The striker is of course referring to his winning goal in last season's encounter at Manchester City just over a year ago on May 5, 2010.
In what was a shoot-out for fourth place and therefore entry into the play-offs for the Champions League, 'Crouchy' nodded home 10 minutes from time to secure a 1-0 win and our entry into Europe's elite competition for the first time in it's current format.
Crouchy was the hero again with a hat-trick in the second leg of the play-off to take us into the group stages and we made it to the quarter-finals before losing to Real Madrid.
And it all came from that close-range header at Eastlands.
"We've all got great memories from that match and especially for myself," he said. "It was a great occasion and an amazing feeling to qualifty for the Champions League.
"To score the goal was fantastic. I remember running behind the goal and seeing all the fans going absolutely crazy.
"I've watched it back and it's brilliant. The camera shot pans out and you can see the whole away section, me running behind there and it's got to be one of the best feelings in the world scoring a goal of that importance."
The odds are stacked in City's favour this time around.
Saturday's draw against Blackpool means we travel to Manchester six points behind City with in-form Liverpool now fifth after last night's win at Fulham.
We travel to Anfield for another cracker on Sunday and the players know we have to finish with three wins out of three - including Birmingham at home on the final day - to have any chance of finishing in the top four.
Indeed, if City win tonight they clinch fourth spot.
"It's a completely different season and different game but we've got to try and get the same result as last year," added Peter.
"City are stronger this season and I think they will get stronger again next season.
"It won't be long before they start challenging and winning Premier Leagues.
"It will be difficult but I look around our dressing room and there is nothing they have that we haven't got. We've some fantastic players and whatever happens, we have to make sure that we're right up there challenging again next season."
