Stunning strikes from Mauricio Taricco and Fredi Kanoute secured the points but both Ledley and Dean were outstanding their first action of the season.
The pair had only played 90 minutes of reserve football following injuries that had all-but ruled them out of pre-season.
"Deano and Ledley deserve a pat on the back because 90 minutes of reserve football in the whole of pre-season isn't enough," admitted Glenn.
"We took a chance and they responded. They played exceedingly well.
"I can't remember a chance after the goal and we should have done better on that. Credit to them and Anthony Gardner.
"We looked solid and there wasn't a player out there who didn't play a part - they were all 7, 8 and sometimes 9 out of ten."
As golden goals grabbed the headlines, Glenn Hoddle was quick to praise returning defenders Dean Richards and Ledley King after the win against Leeds.
