The reserves kick-off against Watford at Stevenage Borough on Monday August 8.
Coach Clive has been pleased with his squad's application and enthusiasm so far in pre-season training and they continue preparations with a friendly against Cheshunt at Theobalds Lane on Friday night, kick-off 7.45pm.
But all eyes are now on August 8 as Clive looks to build on a promising fifth place finish last term.
"Once the lads get back into training and have done the hard graft over the first couple of weeks the one thing they want more than anything is that competitive edge to come in as soon as possible," said Clive.
"As I mentioned before, the reserve team's pre-season plan is running parallel with the first team, we're playing games at the same time while they are in South Korea and I feel we'll be ready for August 8.
"Watford will be a good test for us as I'm sure most of the games will be.
"It seems early but we're into pre-season, the quality of the opposition in friendlies will increase as we progress and I'm sure we'll be ready for it. In terms of the timing we'll be right.
"The lads will be fit, they are raring to go and we can't wait to get into it again."
