|Magical things happen at Spurs when the year ends in one - Steffen Freund even believes he's going to score!
The German midfielder has yet to find the net since joining us from Borussia Dortmund in January 1998 - a run now stretching to 60 games.
He has certainly been trying his luck in pre-season and it took an outstanding fingertip save to deny him in the friendly against Finnish outfit Tervarit on the Scandinavian tour.
Freund said: "A lot of supporters say to me that it is a good time when there is a one in the year. It is the year to for Tottenham in the cups and I hope we can do it.
"For me, it's time to score that first goal. This is important for me. I have scored goals for all my clubs and it is time to score for Tottenham.
"The most important thing though is that we have a stronger squad with the arrival of Sergei Rebrov, Neil Sullivan and Ben Thatcher. There are two good players for every position and my feeling is that there is a good chance for us to have a good season and a good run in the cups."
The big question is, how would Freund celebrate that first goal - having thrown all his kit barring his underpants into the crowd after the final game of the season against Sunderland, the prospect is frightening.
He joked: "Perhaps it would be a good idea to throw my shirt straight into the crowd, run over to the touchline and say take me off now boss, it is time to go home! It is a funny story and I am ready to make a little fun now.
"A lot of friends want to have my shirt when I score that first goal, so I have to bring it home first. When I score my second, that is for the supporters!"
