Dean Richards belives that the key to Ledley King's stunning form is he is beginning to believe in himself.
Deano, who has featured regularly alongside the England international, feels that Ledley came of age as a player when he made his first start for England against France in Euro 2004.
Ledley did not put a foot wrong in Lisbon, despite a few pre-match predictions to the negative and has been the in-form centre-half in the country since that encounter. Dean feels that much of this is down to increased confidence in his own ability.
"He has been outstanding," he said. "In Euro 2004 a few people before the game against France were doubting him.
"I didn't doubt him for a second and I think he was England's best player that night. From then his confidence has grown and grown.
"Ledley is a quiet lad, a bit shy, but I think now he is starting to believe in himself and realise what a great player he is.
"I am delighted for him, I send him a text before England games and have been so happy for him. He has been first class."
