Lee Barnard received the perfect reward for his reserve team exploits when he was drafted into the senior squad for the first time and awarded a cherished squad number.
The 19-year-old striker now features on the back of our matchday programmes - 22 Lee Barnard - following his call into the squad for the games against Manchester City and Wolves.
It is a significant stage for the feisty frontman who admits the step up represents something of a coming of age for him as a professional footballer.
"Yes, I know what you mean. It does give you a lift, you just feel more involved and it is always nice to see your name on the back of the programme - it is also brilliant to have my own squad number now," said Lee, who added that his graduation to the senior ranks for the week was just as special for his family. "It is, they all wanted a programme as a souvenir."
Inclusion in the first team squad offered Lee the chance to witness the dynamics of the group and how the match preparations differ from what he is used to.
"It was a really good experience, to be around the lads and see what they do and say before the games. Just to be involved is nice.
"It is different. We met at the hotel, had something to eat pre-match and then went on to the game," he added, before reflecting on his two-goal show for the reserves against Ipswich that he hopes will keep him in David Pleat's thinking for future squads.
"It is always nice to score and I'm glad I got a couple. I will keep doing my best to try and stay in the squad."
