Jimmy Neighbour is delighted with the continued improvement of his Under-17s this season - reflected in our reserve team line-up this week.
Three of his squad - Phil Ifil, Charlie Daniels and Jamie O'Hara - started Monday's FA Premier Reserve League clash against Chelsea with Andy Barcham later coming off the bench.
The Under-17s have lost just one of their last seven Academy matches and hammered Crystal Palace 5-0 at the weekend, ending with seven schoolboy players in the side.
It's all about progression, as Jimmy explained. "Charlie Daniels has made a couple of starts for the reserves now, Phil and Jamie played again and we had a couple more on the bench on Monday. That's great for them.
"It's up to them now to keep pushing on and do well.
"The lads have started to improve this season and they are good bunch, I've enjoyed working with them and a few will start to push into Pat's Under-19s team more now.
"I'll then start playing more schoolboys. It's all about progression and that's the way it should be. Of course results are important but we need to push boys on all the time."
