Chris Hughton admits that he is surprised that the Premiership table is so tight outside of the top three.
Just 14 points seperate Fulham in fourth place and Wolves in final spot, with us sitting 12th - just seven points away from fourth after 15 games.
"Certainly since the Premiership started, I have not known a season like it," conceded Chris. "Possibly there have been times when, with Manchester United and Arsenal being very strong, they have got away from everybody else but there is a big gap from third place."
Chris added that the congestion does provide the perfect incentive for teams to attempt to put a sustained run together and break away from the pack.
"What it does do is give other teams a feeling that they have an opportunity to push up behind the leading teams and that will only come by putting together an consistent run.
"You have to look after your own business and we know we have to put a run together - that would put us in a good position.
"To get that consistency you must work as hard as you can with the players, working within a system to try and get the best out the players you've got."
