Chris Hughton didn't quite utter the phrase 'I've never known a week like it' but one thing's for sure of our back-to-back 4-3 results - he doesn't want to see many weeks like it again.
Last week's bitterly disappointing FA Cup defeat against Manchester City was incredibly followed by another 4-3 against Portsmouth in the Premiership on Saturday.
Thankfully this time it was in our favour but not before Pompey had levelled on three occasions after we had led 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 - the winner courtesy of Gus Poyet'a knee two minutes from time.
"Yes, I've known weeks like it, numerous weeks when you've had bad results or results that didn't go your way," pondered Chris ahead of the thrilling 4-2 triumph over Charlton on Wednesday.
"But regards the game against City, I've never experienced that and hope I don't again.
"The more we've looked at it and studied it, it's almost a freak result. Even at 3-2 I thought we would win the game. It's an extraordinary result but it's all about bouncing back.
"The most important thing against Portsmouth was to win the game.
"We would have prefered to have won in a more comfortable fashion but that's the sort of side Portsmouth are and the type of players they have, capable of scoring goals.
"They have struggled to score away from home and you wonder why, but it's a game we won and I was pleased for the players.
"The fact Portsmouth came back to 3-3 and after the stick we all got after City, I was pleased they showed the character and determination to come back again and get the winning goal."
