Clive Allen has expressed his delight at the progress of some of our Academy players in his reserve side.
Mark Wright, Charlie Daniels, Phil Ifil and Jamie O'Hara - all U17s - have all shone in recent weeks.
Coach Clive insists that's one of the main objectives of reserve team football.
"We've seen the integration of the Academy lads alongside senior players and it's always a good mix," Clive reflected as he prepares for the reserves' last league game at Coventry next Tuesday.
"The attitude has been excellent and we've seen progress from a few youngsters in terms of moving through and into the first team squad, which is what it's all about.
"I'm delighted with what they've done. Sometimes the youngsters' chances are limited but we've seen boys come in with ability and they've adapted quickly to the step up to reserve team football.
"The U17s have got stronger as the season has progressed and because a few players have got a taste of senior football they are going back to that side and producing there. That's the most important thing."
