Chris Hughton says the reserve team arena is the place to shine for young talent - as proved by Lee Barnard.
The 19-year-old hitman has impressed for the second string this season and his goal against Chelsea at that level was rewarded by a call-up to the bench for the first time in the Premiership at Charlton.
Coach Chris stated: "That was reward for his performances in the reserves and for young players, that is the place to shine, to work hard, to show coaches that they are going in the right direction.
"We're fortunate we've had two young forwards who have done particularly well in the reserves this season in Lee and Mark Yeates.
"Mark's been on the bench more than Lee but at Charlton we thought we needed a more classic centre forward. It's certainly his performances got him there."
